This week Gillette launched its newest razor, Gillette Fusion, in Portugal (that’s my home country, in case you haven’t figured it out). It’s a product that brings out two new interesting features: 5 blades on the front and 1 extra blade on the back of the cartridge.
Since I start shaving I’ve been a great fan of Gillette and I believe their products are not from the same league as Wilkinson – Gillette’s are sharper and quite less irritating to my skin.
On the other hand, what I don’t get is the discrimination between geographical markets. Gillette Fusion has been launched in the USA, UK and Canada, in January 2006, that’s a full year ago! Well, I understand they may wanted to test the waters, but taking a entire year is a strategy that I, as a informed consumer, don’t understand.
In the opposite side you may want to watch out Sony’s Playstation 3. From November 2006 to March 2007 it will have arrived in Japan, USA, Canada, Hong-Kong, Taiwan, Europe, Australia and Singapore. I may have criticized Sony in some of my previous posts but on what concerns worldwide vision, they’re well ahead of Gillette (or P&G, if you prefer).
